PTR Shows New Daily Dungeon System + New Wowhead Feature: Event Calendar
2011/03/17 at 6:15 PM
There are a lot of in-game events nowadays. There are Call to Arms for battlegrounds some of us still haven't set foot in, the Darkmoon Faire is always coming and going, and then there are things like actual holidays and fishing tournaments. Keeping track of them can be confusing--or at least it
confusing. That all changes today as we've now added
an event calendar
to Wowhead that will show you what's going on in Azeroth right from the comfort of your own browser.
Since it was an otherwise slow day, we also hopped on the PTR to confirm whether or not the daily dungeon had been changed--and it has! Players will now be able to do seven dungeons a week instead of one dungeon per day. Cue sighs of relief from everyone, I'm sure. I'd personally rather do seven dungeons in a row with a group of guildmates over the weekend than squeeze one in every day.
There were some new graphic setting options[

2011/03/16 at 5:29 AM
When we were hit with
a lot of new maps last week
unexpectedly, everyone kept asking where Karazhan was. The answer was apparently in this build.

Also, it looks like the new boss in
that was added in last weeks set of maps is now removed which means this patch is definitely on track to be released before the new arena season starts.
Patch 4.1 - PTR Build 13750 - New Icons, Items, and Spell Changes
2011/03/16 at 4:14 AM
A new PTR patch has just been released. There have been the usual things you've come to expect--tooltip fixes, minor spell tweaks, and so on--mostly in response to last night's
PTR Patch Note update
. However, in this build there are also new items datamined, new icons, and some new maps which we'll cover in another post.
Notable changes include:
New items like
Haunted War Drum
Vrykul Drinking Horn
have been added--these look like archaeology finds to me! Perhaps Blizzard is making good on their word to add new things for us to dig up
A new glyph for the

Sometimes things are hard to find in World of Warcraft. It's a common fact that things like the location of certain
have been the bane of WoW players existence for years. It was easy when Dalaran was our home, but Cataclysm just had to go and change that. Now they're scattered to the wind and if you're outside your faction's main capital city, all bets are off to where you might get your crafting done.
Luckily, the Wowhead staff implemented a quick update today that lets you find them in two different ways. Firstly, Wowhead now lists anvils and forges by their zone location when
you look them up
. Once you click on the anvil or forge and then the zone, a map will pop up with its location. Of course, we understand that looking up an object can be too much work. This is why you can also go to a zone instead and use the 'Show on Map' button to immediately have any existing anvil or forge be revealed on the zone map on its page. That's right, you don't even have to leave the page--try checking it out in either

Cataclysm Leveling Flow Guide: 1-60
2011/03/15 at 2:52 PM
Cataclysm tore the world asunder and redefined Azeroth--Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor will never be the same. However, as exciting as it's been to watch this all unfold, it also means that it's harder than it was before to get back into the groove of things if you have taken a break. Even starting a new alt can be a mystifying journey since all the zones have been returned and the landscape changed. Darkshore was hit with tragedy, the Barrens is split in two, and tensions have never been higher in Silverpine Forest. There’s too much to take in and it's hard to know where to start sometimes.
But don't worry--that's what we're here for, right? In addition to having
a lengthy guide to the Cataclysm changes
in our Cataclysm section of Wowhead, this post will get you up to speed on the general leveling progression of World of Warcraft for levels 1-60.
Find out where to go, what zones you shouldn't pass up, and more after the break! We've even included some fun items to hunt for to give you reasons to check out certain zones over others!

A select few of these questions will be answered by Blizzard developers by this time next week. A topic with a lot of controversy in its history, we can only hope that both the questions asked and answers received will make for an interesting read.
As this is a

Blizzard's First Q+A Answered, PvP Selected Topic for Next Set
2011/03/14 at 12:58 PM
Blizzard posted their first wave of responses to the questions they got as part of
their global Q+A session they held through the forums
recently. I think a lot of us were hoping for more in-depth questions pertaining to game mechanics or the future of World of Warcraft, but there are still some interesting thoughts expressed in this set.
Of course, there will always be more questions coming up in the near future. The more controversial topic of PvP is slated to be tackled next; starting at 4PM PDT today, Blizzard will field PvP questions from players. We'll keep you updated on where to ask those questions as soon as Blizzard makes their official threads for them.
Some of the topics of the questions they were asked include:
Updated Textures: Will We Ever Get Any?
TBC/Northrend Leveling Flow
World PvP: Is It Dead?
Moonkins Need An Execute

Site Updates: New Profiler Features, Custom Stat Weights and Reforging!
2011/03/10 at 3:33 PM
The Wowhead team is always working behind the scenes on ways to make our site an even better resource for our users. This week has been a particularly productive one. We've made several big changes here--all thanks to our community's constant feedback! We get a lot of requests from you guys and we're always happy to listen. Over these past few months,
has been brought up a lot. In particular, you've brought up adding a way to track raid progression.
Well, now you can. We're happy to announce that we recently added a raid progression tracker to Profiler. In addition to all the other awesome things it can already do, it can now tell you what dungeons are optimal for your level and gear. In just one glance, Profiler can tell you what ones you have completed and your current raid progression as well.
Of course, Profiler's raid utilities aren't the only thing we've enhanced. We also improved on Wowhead's ability to help you choose gear and see how your stats change with every choice you make. We've done this primarily through two other recent updates: the ability to reforge items and the ability to create cust
