2016/10/17 at 12:24 PM
Following the launch of Legion, the Wowhead team has been gathering data on how users find information on our site. Our goal is to provide the best possible information on WoW...but sometimes that information could be easier to find!
It soon became clear that the navigation bar and large vertical drop-down menus were in need of a fresh coat of paint. We have a few proposed changes in store, which you can read about and preview in the full article.

New Site Feature: Guide System for User-Submitted Class Information
2016/06/30 at 5:33 PM
In preparation for all the class changes coming in the 7.0 Legion Pre Patch, the Wowhead staff has spruced up the guide system! In addition to our
for all specs, we also want to encourage users to share their builds used for different situations. With more spec-specific talents and the brand-new Artifact and Relic system, there's a ton of variety to share!
Writing guides can be tricky, so we designed a new user-friendly UI for writing class guides, which allows you to do the following new things:
Embed Talent, Honor Talents, and Artifact Calculator builds into the guide, with notes on each ability choice.
Leave tags specifying the skill level required for your build, and if it's suitable for different categories of PvE and PvP. Perhaps you're looking for a simple build for an alt, or something specifically for dungeons on your main.
Select stat weights and rank useful enchants, gems, and food.
Leave notes on any important items that impact your build, such as
Previously-published Legion Talent guides have been converted to the new system.
The guide system is also mobile-friendly and you can easily skip between guide sections with our new navigation bar! Guides can be browsed on our
Class Guide Section
(note the Legion subdomain in the URL) and can be further filtered by spec and tag.
To set up a Legion Class Guide, just go to "
Create New Guide
" on any guide page and select "Classes" from the guide category, then pick a spec. You can also set up a guide for a spec via the "Create New Guide" option on the
Legion Talent Calculator
. Do note that several options, such as the Artifact Calculator, are only available if the guide is edited on the Legion subdomain.
In preparation for Legion, we have also added several new guide sections:
, and split off
We look forward to seeing your guides, whether you're on the beta or PTR, or want to write one when the pre patch hits live servers! We would love feedback from any beta/PTR players as to anything they'd like to see added to this spec template.
New Site Feature: Transmog Wardrobe Collection Tool
2016/05/24 at 11:09 AM
Wowhead's latest site feature, the
, lets you track your collected transmog appearances in preparation for Legion! In the Legion pre-patch, your transmog options will be stored as an account-wide collection, freeing up tons of bag space.
Import your entire collection, including items in bags, void storage, and the bank, onto Wowhead. We'll also show rewards you've deleted from quests.
Please read the post for full instructions on how to import your collection. It involves verifying your character and logging on in-game with the Wowhead Client.
Filter by items collected, by slot, and by source. Useful if you're working towards the
Add additional characters to see which of their collected items will count towards your main character's collection.
Mouse over an appearance to see all items with that look, as well as which character has collected it.
There are several restrictions we have tried to take into account for account-wide collections, such as class restrictions on Tier appearances and mail items changing to plate in Legion.
We've written several guides to transmog in Legion as well:

Identical items will also be displayed in case users want additional ways to try for a particular item. As the author, you can also leave a description explaining the inspiration behind your set! Users visiting the page can also leave comments, upvote, and find similar sets that use many of the same items.

New Site Feature: Wardrobe Appearances from Quests, Druid Forms in Artifact Calculator Modelviewer
2016/01/07 at 10:59 AM
The Legion alpha may not be up yet, but the Wowhead team has been hard at work with site features for the expansion!
Wardrobe Tool: Appearances from Quests
In Legion, you will automatically unlock appearances for all rewards from quests you have previously completed--including those you've deleted. To help you plan in advance and remember what deleted appearances you've collected, we've made
Your Quest Wardrobe
. This will also help mail and plate users keep track of what quest appearances they'll gain or lose with the
low level armor changes in Legion
, Input your character's name and realm and you'll see a list of all collected and missing appearances from in-game quests, with the names of the quests beneath the images.
As the Legion Alpha is very new, this tool does not cover gear from removed quests and non-quest appearances. Account-wide behavior for quest rewards on the Alpha is also not yet finalized. We look forward to growing this tool and other transmog resources on Wowhead over the upcoming months!
Artifact Cat and Bear Forms in Modelviewer
The Artifact Weapon Calculator now displays special versions of
Cat Forms for Feral Druids
Bear Forms for Guardian Druids
. Equipping Feral and Guardian artifact weapons will modify your shapeshifted appearance, as your weapons will be hidden.
Simply click on the "Appearances" tab when a weapon is selected, and then click on the tint squares next to each style's name to browse them. You can rotate the model and double-click to open it up full-screen.
