This is one of the new Heirloom Items introduced in World of Warcraft: Cataclysm. The whereabouts of Heirloom Rings is currently Unknown but most likely will be made available through random profession dailies luck. I feel safe enough saying this since our last Heirloom ring was available from Fishing.

The following Heirlooms are unlockable through the Guild system:

The first Major patch of World of Warcraft: Cataclysm introduced new Heirloom items that were created to help Plate classes obtain the necessary defensive stats to properly Tank dungeons.

My apologies for some inaccurate information previously. This comment was made during the Cataclysm Beta and I just never got around to updating it. Prices have been fixed and it now looks sexier then ever.

Patch 4.1 Heirloom Update
All Heirloom items have had their bindings changed to bind to a single Battle.Net account instead of a World of Warcraft account. This change will let you transfer your items across factions, realms and even the other active World of Warcraft accounts on your Battle.Net Account.

Blizzard has also implemented Tanking Heirlooms with Patch 4.1. Please see above for their names! Links will not be live until the data is merged to the main Wowhead site.

If all of these items are implemented in Cataclysm, you can get up to a 55% increase in experience gained from killing monsters and completing quests.

Helm: 10%
Back: 5%
Chest: 10%
Pants: 10%
Shoulders: 10%
Ring 1: 5%
Ring 2: 5%

Plus, with the other ways to gain extra experience, you can get a grand total of 375% increase in experience!

Rest exp: 100%
Recruit a friend: 200%
Guild perks: 10%
Holiday buffs: 10% (like Fire Festival Dance)

This item has a sell price of 375 gold. This indicates that once the item becomes available at guild quartermaster, it'd likely cost a pretty penny still.

On the other hand we can probably rest assured that it won't cost justice points.

So, here's my question. Do you have to be in the guild when they hit level 20, or do you suddenly gain access to it if you join up with the guild after they hit it. It'd kinda suck to join a guild but then be like, "Oh, you're already level 20. Well, I really want to be able to get the helmet, so see ya later."

What I would like to know is if helm enchants such as the ZG ones will work on this. My guild isn't high enough to confirm yet, but I would hope that they would at least work with an enchantment level requirement.

However, thinking about it, the only helm enchants that would work on these are the ZG ones, which no one can get anymore.

edit: Forgot that libram Arcanums may work too, if you still had any from DM (i.e. Arcanum of Rapidity, Constitution, etc.)

But if you get heirlooms, shouldn't the friend you recruit also need to have heirlooms to keep up with you?
Or if your the one recruited, you can't get all those heirlooms since you just got an account?

I have a question, if you buy a heirloom cloak or a heirloom head.. and you migrate to another realm WITH the items in your bag, will you be able to use them on that new realm even if youre not honored?

It's a shame that on my worgen druid, it looks like he's wearing a bag over his head... for the next 60 levels...

Good job, there's kitty form so I don't have to look at it.

Edit. Or indeed I could decide not to see a helm for 60 levels too, or not to use the heirloom at all. Is it possible to transmogrify heirlooms?

The boa cloaks and helms will transfer with you if you have them in your bank/bag. I bought all the cloaks before my main transferred realms and have used them on newly created characters there.

To be clear, only the heirloom head and back items continue scaling after level 80. Also, while you are 80, the head and back heirlooms will be scaled using WotLK stats; meaning at most, if not all, of the items you get in Cata content when 80 will be massive upgrades until you hit 81.

I dont understand why they are up to level 85, when they dont change their stat range at level 80? every green item have almost double stat than this :(

This item will be 1,350 if you have a level 25 guild, because that gives the guild perk bartering, which takes 10% off this item's 1,500g base price.
