Item - Mage T19 Frost 4P Bonus
has an additional 5% chance to trigger
Fingers of Frost
when it deals damage.
Check out the
Antorus Gear section
below for recommendations on gear pieces.
Shard of the Exodar
- Your own
does not cause
, and is not affected by similar effects such as
. A Mage with this ring can benefit from two casts of
(or similar) spells: once from an ally and once from themselves. Simply one of our best legendaries, in all situations where you will benefit from a second cast of Time Warp (i.e. not when using it at the very end of a fight).
Magtheridon's Banished Bracers
- Casting Ice Lance increases the damage of subsequent
s by 3%, up to 18%, for eight seconds. Excellent legendary in all situations and for all builds. Don't
cast an Ice Lance at a non-frozen target (or without Fingers of Frost), just to keep the buff up.
Shattered Fragments of Sindragosa
- Every 15 Frostbolts or Flurries you cast casts Comet Storm at your target. Very strong; sims well for Glacial Spike builds.
Soul of the Archmage
- Gain the
talent. Even after the changes to Thermal Void (indirectly nerfing Frozen Touch), this is a decent legendary in specific circumstances; specifically those with multiple targets, like 'council'-style fights.
increases the damage of Blizzard by 35%, stacking up to five times. Naturally, this is only strong if you're casting Blizzard! In AoE situtations, it's incredible.
explodes at the end of its trail, dealing 600% spellpower damage. Very weak. Although it has some uses in sustained AoE, often the targets you cast Orb at will die or move before it explodes.
Lady Vashj's Grasp
- While Icy Veins is active, you gain one
Fingers of Frost
charge every 10 seconds. Was previously one of our best legendaries with
, but the nerf to that talent in 7.2.5 and the fact that it takes a tier slot (now that we are using both 2-T19 and 4-T20) means that these gloves are nowhere near their former power level.
- Applying a loss of control effect to an enemy grants you 70% increased movement speed and 25% Haste for 10 seconds. Frost Mages can apply this using roots like
, as well as by using
. The passive movement speed and Haste make Sephuz a viable legendary by themselves; on any fight where it can be activated consistently (Mistress Sass'zine or Desolate Host, for example), it shines.
Prydaz, Xavaric's Magnum Opus
- Gain an absorb shield for 25% of your maximum health once every 30 seconds. A survivability increase, with excellent stats.
Kil'jaeden's Burning Wish
- An on-use effect that causes a massive explosion around your target, on a relatively short cooldown. Extremely powerful for AoE fights.
Belo'vir's Final Stand
- Provides an absorb shield equal to 20% of your maximum health after casting
. An excellent legendary for on-demand survivability.
- Gain a cast-and-move buff after standing still. Frost Mages already have high mobility, making this a weak legendary.
Insignia of the Grand Army
Increases the effect of the Light and Shadow powers granted by the Netherlight Crucible by 50%.
A bad legendary all over. Most of the above choices will outperform this ring for any spec.
The below list assumes that all trinkets are the same itemlevel. It applies to both Thermal Void and Glacial Spike builds:
Acrid Catalyst Injector
Terror From Below
Tarnished Sentinel Medallion
Make sure that you haven't equipped two 'on-use' trinkets at the same time.
For a full trinket ranking, see Bloodymallet's
Combining Tier pieces
The choice of when, or even if, to drop the two-piece of the previous tier will depend entirely on your personal situation; a two-piece bonus is usually worth keeping over gear many item levels ahead. Frost does want to use 2T20 and 4T21, as long as the item level differences are not too great, due to the strong 2T20 set bonus. What pieces you keep will, again, depend on what drops for you.
Due to the Titan/Warforged system,'best-in-slot' lists are no longer realistic. The below are not BiS lists, but simply the most optimal gear for that particular slot, excluding legendaries (Aman'Thul's Vision does not count towards the Legion legendary limit).

Finding Gear on Wowhead
From simple recommendations to advanced filters, Wowhead can help you find the gear you want.
is a great way to search for gear if you are new to Wowhead's filtering system.
Choose what item category, gear slot, and class specialization you're interested in, and it will return results for you. You can further narrow it down by source--including gear from LFR and heroic dungeons.
You can find the Item Finder via Tools > Item Finder or Database > Items > Item Finder.
returns personalized gear suggestions for you and shows which content has the most upgrades.
Simply load up the
with you preferred character and it will list gear recommendations in a 20 ilvl range for you. It will also list how many gear upgrades each boss has so you can plan out bonus rolls. Finally, the character planner will perform an audit and let you know if you have any missing enchants, glyphs, or gems.
If you have a character in our
which is great for tracking vanity collections and viewing your character in our 3D modelviewer, you can click on the "Planner" button in the header to access the tool. If you don't, you can just enter your information in at Tools > Character Planner.
Wowhead utilizes a powerful system of item filters to narrow down the gear you need.
, you can enter in some basic options at the top--the name of the item, its item level, the level the players needs to be. The "Usable by" dropdowns cover factions, class, and role.
The dropdown menu right above "Stat Weights" opens to display a variety of advanced options. These cover the following:
General item info such as Added in Expansion/Patch, BoE/BoP, Unique-Equipped, Class-Specific.
Stats: All primary stats, secondary stats, defensive stats, and weapon stats.
Source: All in-game sources, ranging from raid difficulties to the Black Market Auction House to sold by a vendor.
Miscellaneous: Many of these filters are not relevant to equippable gear such as Crafting Reagents and Toys, but you can filter for items that are currently obtainable.
Once you've selected a filter from the menu, click on Apply filter for search results. You can repeat the process to filter for multiple criteria at once--for example, Agility gear that is found in Mythic Foundry.
Over on the right-hand side of the page, you can select a particular Gear Slot or Quality to narrow results even further.
Finally, you can quickly view a subset of items at once using the Database Menus. Head to Database > Items and mouseover the Weapon and Armor options for quick links to gear arranged by armor type and slot.
