As I often tell our dealerships at work: Refer to your own tech support higher ups. Will probably get more information that way.

Whether you 'waste' time with WoW or not, you should be able to find out why an issue would be causing graphical tears in the game. If you are unable to, it's time to contact your higher ups.

It just seems weird to give tech support advice to a tech support technician. To me, it also doesn't seem reasonable that a person has to have specialized knowledge of a game from a player's perspective (as opposed to a developer's perspective) to be able to troubleshoot a graphical glitch.
The issue you described is not an especially unusual one as far as graphical artifacts in games go.
Aside from the hardware issue the client suspects and the game issue you seem to suspect, this could easily be a driver issue that may be fixed in a current or future update.
A work-around would probably be to adjust graphics settings if the driver provider has yet to release a fix.

If you truly think it's an issue with WoW try uninstalling the game and reinstalling it... or, put the graphics card in a different computer with WoW and see if the problem happens on that computer. Another option is to put a different graphics card in to the computer and run the current game, see if the graphic issue is still happening and if it is, then it's clearly not the card.
I am unaware of this glitch being a currently known issue to the game and as such I doubt anyone here is going to be able to help you.(##RESPBREAK##)2060##DELIM##Sas148##DELIM##

I did a single Google search on a hunch, and the third result was a report of the problem and a work-around listed later. It also includes an image of the visual artifact.

To summarize, the problem seems to be a software issue related to DirectX 9.
The workaround is to access the settings via the launcher or in-game and select DirectX 11. It's possible the card or operating system may not support it, but in that case the option will either be grayed out or have no effect.
This issue isn't limited to WoW. I've seen the same artifact in League of Legends (LoL), which uses a completely different game engine, but still uses DirectX 9. I don't have an image, but some champions have transparent boxes centered on the champion that are visible when in bushes. I don't think all champions are affected. It may just be older champions like Heimerdinger.

i think it should be clear that we as techs dont waste our time or knowledge with WOW, so we have no baseline to where to troubleshoot, whereas people here might!
thanks for the comment though,
As a former IT tech and consultant I am glad you are not working on my hardware.

As a current DSA/Jr. Sys. Admin I have to agree. If I don't know where to start with an issue the first thing I do is go to my supervisor and ask his opinion, not visit a forum and belittle the users for giving you sound advice.
That being said, I was going to give you some advice, but after reading your responses to Adamsm, (who is a long time forum member, and fellow WoW player), I am going to tell you to do your own damned job and learn how to research a problem.
