It's possible, but 2h tanking is definitely better. As you progress with gear, try to get a 2h!

It's not optimal, but yes, you can do it. However, it really is easier to keep one weapon updated when leveling rather than two.

People like this give the class a bad name.
Why? He pretty clearly put forth his case. Did you even read his post?
He will be leveling with 2 heirloom 1-handers as Frost or Unholy. But he also wants to do dungeons as a Blood Tank while leveling.
The question he then asks, is: Can he use the 2 1-handers, or does he need a 2-hander.
To which people reply: You need a 2-hander.
Is he a bad player for asking a question? Does he give the class a bad name for asking?
It's people like you who make these forums so depressing.
EDIT: Worse, I just realized no one really explained anything. Good job guys.
You get very little benefit from your offhand. Unlike Frost, which is the only spec that really
works
with dual wield, Blood doesn't get anything but a bit of off-hand weapon damage. Which isn't really all that much. This means that your main damaging spells, Heart Strike, Death Strike, Rune Strike, ect. are effectively halved in power. There's no good reason to do so, so you really should always stick to a 2-hander.
Even with heirlooms, I seriously doubt there'll be so far between upgrades, that your 1-hand weapons will somehow grow stronger in pure weapon damage, than a 2-hander would.

Especially with the talents that are around for Blood in regards to the two hander.

No, it's the people that don't bother to ask and just do it and damn the concequences that do. People that ask questions not so much.

For soloing content as Frost or Unholy, you definitely want an Arcanite Reaper.
For tanking in dungeons/raids as Blood, your DPS doesn't really matter. What matters is your stamina, armor, and block/dodge/parry. I can see a legitimate case being made for dual Skullforge Reavers.

No, dual wield blood dk tank is not even a viable option. You tank with a 2hander because it provides more more stamina(but you dont stack stamina anymore you may say, does not matter its still useful).
Ideally the secondary stat will be mastery on it. Also all the tank runeforging's
Rune of the Stoneskin Gargoyle
and
require a 2h.

You sir, are clueless.
The secondary stat for heirlooms is given, cant really change it. It cant be mastery because its learned at lvl 80.
Also stamina is not an issue (actually stamina is only thing you can and should stack before lvl 70 as a tank).
Threat (and damage) is. 1hander hits for less than 2hander and majorty of death knight abilities derive from weapons damage (heart strike, death strike, rune strike. plague strike).
But i can see many other clueless dks around who spam random buttons while doing 10% of the damage they should and there are no wipes so everything will work.
What lol, is he going to stay lvl 78 forever? No, ok then lol
Tanking and questing as a Blood Dk is trivial. You could effectively tank as Blood dk lvling from 58-80 without ever using runeforgings. I was talking about late game which is more important than just leveling.

I said above that tanking as blood dk through lvls 58-80 is trivial. There isnt anything that could possibly change during those lvls.
What would you call late game? Im pretty sure there arent heroic tank raiders queuing 5 mans all of the time. Most of these clueless tanks are just ppl queueing as tank to by pass the dps queue time to get gear. They dont know to death strike after taking damage or to turn mobs away from the group, they dont know how to pop a cool down besides bone shield every now and then.
The least we can do is say what is appropriate for when he starts tanking in later lvls(which are probably soon) where there is more to tanking then just running through LK dungeons and holding aggro.
I honestly doubt he is still lvl 78 as of this post or is staying lvl 78. I dont know why you brought up the 1handed rune forgings because they are weaker than of the ones I said above you even agreed with 2 handers being best. I dont understand the issue of why you need to give him information no one uses anymore and tell me Im clueless. There is not a single Blood DK tank today uses them. I even said you can effectively tank without using the runes from lvls 58-80.
The MOP heroic dungeons arent even that difficult by any means compared to the ones the past but they are what we have now.
