Is Destro really that far behind?

Hey peeps,
I've just respecced for a bit of fun into Demo and even though I'm still re-learning the rotation and priorities etc I seem to be pulling so much more DPS than I could in my well rehearsed Destro spec.
I'm not talking small numbers either, I ran a few raids this week as Demo and compared to my previous week I seem to be putting out 20k more DPS on average on a single target and a lot more with AoE!
I have made a few tweakes to some reforging and added a few new enchants but I wouldn't have thought the difference would be this big. So, obviously I'm keen to see now what I could do with Aff.
What are your reflections on the different specs available? Have you noticed your DPS pull vastly ahead just because you've changed spec?
Just after some thoughts and info!
FYI - This is my character - Wowhead profiler wouldn't work for me!

On AoE fights, no spec in equal gear can outcompete demo. That being said, your gear is also important in deciding on which spec you'll do more dps in. If you're most predominant secondary stat is crit, then you'll definitely do more dps as demo then as affliction or destro.
I've always been demo since when demo started becoming viable (BC I think), and I just recently decided to try destro. My dps spiked by 10k dps single target since I switched to destro. But again, that may be because of gear because I have mastery on every piece with crit as a second secondary stat. I'm pulling 60-65k consistent single target dps in mostly 5-man heroic gear (my ilvl is 465) self buffed.
However, regardless of spec, you'll do the most dps in the spec you're most comfortable in and enjoy playing. Affliction may be the top spec at the moment, but I refuse to play it because they turned affliction warlocks into shadow priests. Not my play style, therefore it's my lowest dps spec

I always have felt the same. Always believeing that greater knowledge and fun with a spec is key, but a 20k increase on single target fights (from 65-85k) and over 50k improvement on AoE has got me questioning that.
I'm yet to test it on all of the raids so I will report back when I have. Hopefully by running more fights and comparing them to my previous ones I'll get a more accurate idea of the dps change.
Thanks for the opinions so far!
