I think you'll find, on sticking the MoP disc in, it'll say that WoW isn't installed on your computer yet. But go ahead and give it a go, what harm can it do?

Just the MoP one.

Why don't you stick it in and find out?

Just put the MoP disc in and it will go to the latest patch number. Though really, you can now put in any disc and it will patch up; the only 'really' important thing is the expansion codes anymore.

Or, forget the disks entirely and install the client directly from your Blizzard.net account page.
Doing that makes the entire question moot and you'll need to do a significant size download anyhow so what's the harm?

You can do it in either order; heck, just put in the codes while the game is installing.

Yes you can choose or move your install folder, mine is on D rather than C. Download really depends on your connection, but be thinking hours rather than minutes.

The downloader, linked above, is much faster than installing by disc, because you would have to download all the patches anyway. The downloader is current.
It also has all the install options the discs have, like install location and whatever else. I'd be specific here, but I haven't reinstalled in a long time and can't remember what all the options are.
What you may want to look for, which is in the options of both the downloader and the game launcher is something about throttling the download speed. It is in one of the menus, and you can change it on the fly. Make sure you are not throttling, and it will go a lot faster. Also, there may be options for peer-to-peer, which should be on, and IPv6, also on.

IPv6 will not do anything unless you have a very new network.
peer-to-peer will download from others that have a download running which makes it faster.
