What makes you keep on playing a priest? :)
For me it´s hard to put a finger on!
Maybe I enjoy the idea of totally opposite schools of magic combined: Holy and Shadow. As opposed to, say, Frost and Fire which are both kind of elemental, or Druid magic which is always based on nature and the arcane. Or warlock magic which is just plain evil.

Versatility. I love Shadow's DPS style (the long-lost mana battery role was also awsome, though. Shame it was lost - I know it was for the best, but still...), and no other class allows me to simply flip over a talent spec if I get bored of my current healing one and get a completelly new healing style. Not that I ever got to that point, Discipline never ceases to amaze :P
Also, being the iconic healer. I've always enjoyed support roles, and not so much tank roles, with ocasional dabbling into some damage. That makes a Priest ideal.

The plethora of heals they have.

I've always enjoyed playing shaman healers, so I decided on venturing out toward the priest class. At first I tried holy for dungeon leveling and didn't like that, but when I made a new priest into disc and began dungeoning, I fell in love. The fact that I can help out with DPS, and have my own DPS heal some of the players in my party, as well as having other heals at my disposal is just a fun factor.

Good reasons! From my point of view, especially the points of versatility and unpredictability seem to correlate. When you see a mage, you know what a mage is up to. Priests are more complicated. They are supporter kind of class, but dedicated shadow priests can be really tough to compete against. People might overlook them in PvP.
As I level my alts and quest, seeing a priest always kind of puzzles me! What is he/she up to? :)

Mind controlling people off the ledge into the lava inside BRM made me create my priest, Penance made me level it and greeding meters with shields keep me playing it. I'm shallow like that.

Out of all, I like certainty. I'm quite certain in what I can pull off. And when my friend ask "but who would tank", the answer "me, of course" brings up the facial expression, that is a sight to see.
Farming dungeons "Ele+Shadow" is just a steamroll... So does Holy+Shadow, but that's a different topic.

What kind of dungeons do you farm with just two characters?

What makes me want to play it:
I already had one at level 85 from last expansion and I didn't want to be melee again this expansion.
I like what they did with Shadow Orbs, the old mechanic felt clunky.
I like all the utility Priests get on top of their damage (Silence, Fear, Horrify, Slow, Root (If you talent it), Heal (Vampiric Embrace as well as Holy spells), Shield, Leap of Faith, Angelic Feathers, etc.
I like the look of Shadow Priests on my troll, Shadow Ravens flying around him and dark angel wings sprouting every time I use DP looks really cool. Not to mention how well it works with the Shadow Phoenix mount and the Shadow Phoenix Hatchling.
Very fluid rotation and I like being able to choose to have or not have two RNG procs in our talent tree.
Fun to play in PvP and from what I've seen really good (Speaking of Shadow only, I don't look at other specs.)
I *can* heal if I want to get faster group runs, it's nice not being stuck in one role.
What I don't like about my Priest:
Fighting large packs of small mobs. - Yeah, multidot + Mind Sear, but it still takes a while and it's annoying to spend that long when on my DK I would have just spammed Howling Blast and been done with it.
Playing as a caster feels more restrictive than Melee. Not so much the Priests fault, but after playing pure melee since Vanilla, playing a caster takes so time to get used to.
Shadow Form makes gear looks worthless almost. It's nice that there's a glyph to fix that, but there are other minor glyphs I like too.

Look at is this way: You don't have to worry, how would your gear looks together, if you change a piece or two.
Basically, your visual choices fall into "everything, if dress"...

I know it might sound odd, but I really don't know why. My priest just always seems to become the one I'm most interested in focusing on.
When WoTLK came out, I rushed out and leveled to cap. (I leveled it originally in BC)
When cata came out, I rushed out, leveled to cap... and then maxed cooking and alchemy.
When panda came out, I actually rushed to level my Druid - but that was really only because a friend was needing a tank.
As soon as I tanked to 90, I logged out and haven't logged back in.
I guess Shadow Priest just "fits"
