Keyboard setup for PvP

In PvE, having all your shortcuts scattered around the screen in no particular order and accessible through the default number keys, or only with a mouse click, didn't matter so much because the pacing is so predictable.
PvP is not like PvE. I have seen screenshots of users' UIs in which they have replaced the default number key shortcuts for a toolbar to keys close to the WASD keys instead (Q, E, Z, X, C, F, G). Supposing I have a standard Hemorrhage/Shadowstep build, what do other people do to put their most important and most-used abilities close to their fingertips? What about extra mouse buttons, and has anyone changed the default actions for left and right mouse buttons to something more suitable to PvP's fast-paced environment (like making a press of both buttons do something other than move forward).
I'm thinking about potentially viable setups, but I'd like to hear from the experts so I don't spend hours and hours tweaking something that may have already been figured out.
Thanks in advance!

Oh mate... as rouge dont have that many skills you can just bind 1-5 / ctrl+1-5 / shift+1-5... thats enough. Ofc it thats not that good for you, you can bind F,G,T,R... As Im using right hand for keyboard and left hand for mouse its rly good and comfortable. Other setup that can be usefull for you is ctrl/shift+letters (aka Shift+C). I hope it will help you. Gl in future setup.

i always use my number keys across the top.. for pvp itlooks like this:
1 Shiv 2 Hemo 3 Evis(just in case) 4 Kidney 5 Gouge 6 Kick 7 Sprint
Shift1 Shs Shift2 Prep Shift3 Vanish Shift4 Premed
and then just random assortments for my other moves, ShiftE for evasion, ShiftR for rupture, ShiftS for CoS, ShiftV for envenom, ShiftB for Bloodlust ShiftF for insignia.. it works pretty well for me, but im surely no pvp pro (1650-1700 in arena)

Fast important abilities = qerfcxz
Fast semi-important = tgv12345
Slow but still vital = Shift + qerfcxz
Slow and only occasional = shift + tgv12345
Odds and Ends that you might need in battle (e.g. AP trinket,food) = 67890-=
This set up goes for all classes.
And you can throw in A and D for fast and important, if you're good at moving with mouse as you should be.
I've ended up with a preliminary setup something like this. I use A and D to circle strafe and I don't think I can unlearn that habit, so I'll leave those as the default bindings.
Thanks for the responses.

Best do like Speactrael said cuz putting stealth requiring skills on action bar that dont change in stealth will only make your game difficult.
About macros personally i dont use any cuz i get it more interesting to not use 'em.

I have a
MX Revolution
and bound the strafe functions to the side mouse buttons, so it frees up the entire keyboard for other functions. My basic setup is:
QWERT
ASDFG
ZXCVB
So basically, the left half of the keyboard. Its a total of 30 actions with shift for any macro modifiers (i.e. focus target vs. target). Tab for targeting, space for jump, etc. and just bind the keys above to whatever spells you want.
Also, my action bar doesn't change when I enter stealth, because I find that sometimes its more important to break stealth to get a clutch blind off. So for that reason, I macro things like Rupture and Garrote or Cheap Shot and Kidney Shot to the same key with a stealth modifier.
So the long and the short of it is, like Spectrael said, macros are your friend, learn them.

I've found that 1-6 are the best, most useful keys for me. I still use the keys to move on occasion, though I've become a mouse user to turn and run for the most part. I still find times that key movements are useful.
1= Kick
2= Gouge
3= Hemo/Ghostly strike macro
4= SnD/Expose armor macro
5= Evis/Rupture macro
6= KS/Blind macro
I think having Kick and Gouge as single button pushes, regardless of what you have them bound to, is important. If you have them bound to a key +Ctrl, I've found that sometimes I miss the ctrl and hit shift, fn, or the window button accidentally instead.
Gouge and Kick are the 2 most important ones to not screw up on, imo, so having them bound to a single button and within the most convenient reach is what I'd shoot for.
Good luck figuring what works out best for you!

I use
Shift/Nothing + E,R,F,G
Shift/Ctrl/Nothing + Q
Shift + D
Shift/Ctrl/Nothing + Middle Mouse, Mouse4, Mouse5
Ctrl/Shift+Spacebar
Shift/Nothing + 1,2
Scroll up/down (with Ctrl too, Shift is used to zoom in/out)
