Worgen shaman

I don't know whether to believe the leaked news about the new worgen race for Alliance in the upcoming Cataclysm expansion. If it is indeed true, then I'd like to throw something out there that maybe the devs will see.
I would like to play a worgen shaman. I play in an Alliance guild, and although I love the shaman class, the Draenei race seems like a poor fit to me. While it feels right for the "barbaric" Horde races, the Draenei seem to civilized. I never bought that "learned it from orcs" part of the lore!
I saw more leaked notes that there might be dwarven shaman. Meh... this feels like a bad fit for me too. They too seem like a more civilized race.
But worgen... savage, barbaric... now THIS would be great! I think Alliance needs a bestial race like this, and what better race to be a shaman!
So even though I have all 10 char slots filled on my server, and even though my Draenei shammy is almost ready to enter Northrend, I think I would delete her with little hesitation if I got the chance to roll a worgen shaman. I hope this is in line with what the devs are considering.

Ehmm Worgen and Shaman kind of don't go along... Worgens are more Warlock type, see?
Personally, i hope no other race gets Shamans, unless it's a Furbolg.

Taurens and Priests kind of don't go along... but the speculation says otherwise.
Why
not
have Worgen Shamans?

I'm going to quote Orcplumber on this one :
Shamanism is not popular among the draenei, with many thinking it gets in the way of worship of the light.
Some years ago the leader of the Draenei, Velen had a vision. In it he saw that the Broken would rise to power once again and aid their displaced brethren.
Velen's vision was given substance in the form of Nobundo, a one-time draenei Vindicator who had devolved while the orcs decimated his race and tore the planet apart. Like his fellow Broken, Nobundo had lost contact with the Light, and so he ventured far into the deserts of Outland to meditate and pray for guidance.
After decades of silence, an unfamiliar voice finally answered his prayers. It was not the Light that whispered to him, but the wind. The breeze spoke to him of lost truths, of the might of the elements – of the delicate balance of power embraced by the shaman.
Nobundo listened eagerly and learned all he could. When he judged the time was right, he departed the desert determined to use this knowledge to help the draenei race. However, most draenei refugees greeted the sight of a Broken with skepticism and outright prejudice. Only one of the healthy draenei did not shun the Broken: the wise and perceptive Velen.
Velen had heard the philosophy of the shaman before, but Nobundo revealed new truths. The elements were timeless; they stretched across the cosmos to inhabit every world they touched. With the proper training, the draenei might learn to wield this overlooked, seemingly inexhaustible source of power.
Hope that helps with this Lore situation.
Now to get back on topic.
While I have read the "supposed" things coming in the next expansion, (Keeping in mind that this is from speculation and Datamining.) I would like to play a Worgen, and that, while being beastial is apparently a requirement to be a shaman, I still think that, since they were "once" humans, they would still use the Arcane energies, compared to the power bestowed onto those who are attuned to the whisperings of the Elements of the world.

Since when was a shamanism synonimous (Sp?) with barbarism?

Well, Worgens would go well as druids or whatever class, but i think they should utilize their animal form for combat purposes, like the feral druids do.....but this one will be humanoid....sounds interesting. :D

Blizzard or more likely Activison-Blizzard's CEO has decided that lore no longer matter is is all about squeezing out the cash. So worg shamans, NE mages, etc. It doesn't matter whatever brings in the dough will be put in. (Just read some of his comments it's disgusting how greedy he is)
But on the actual subject Shamans don't have to be barbaric. Worgen were created by warlocks, and since the orcs lost the ability to talk to the spirits once they started being warlocks it would probably be hard for a warlock created race to become a shaman.
This is all of course if they wanted to stick to the lore.

Worgen are large, wolf-like humanoids reminiscent of a werewolf that walks upright, but lopes on all fours to run. According to sources held by the undead, the worgen come from another dimension, and exist only to terrorize and destroy. These creatures are thoroughly evil, delighting in torturing and devouring intelligent creatures. They enjoy hearing the screams of their victims as they tear them apart piece by piece. Worgen never show mercy or remorse. They may seem savage, but they are fairly intelligent and possess a cruel bestial cunning that can come as a surprise to the unprepared

If the rumors are true (a fairly big if at this point) we'll be getting Dwarven shaman, which I feel means that Worgen shaman are not a possibility. The rumors also show Tauren paladins as a new combo, giving a 3/2 balance between the two formerly faction exclusive classes. It seems unlikely that they'll give the Alliance the same number of shaman as the Horde has, particularly as that would require giving pallies to the Goblins, which just would not work.
What we may see--again, assuming the rumors are true--are Worgen druids, to balance out the addition of Troll druids. I support that, and if it ends up being true, I'll be leveling a Dwarf ele and a Worgen balance.

I just began leveling my alliance shaman and wonder if they'll make it possible to change your race afterwards. I really don't like the looks of my (male) Draenei and would switch to a Dwarf within a second if it would be possible (I already have a dwarven Hunter and Paladin). Since they're going let you switch factions would it be possible to switch from Draenei to an Orc Shaman and then back to become a Dwarf ? I would do the same with my Mage :-)
Or is Blizzard playing a cruel joke on us ? I really don't want to keep leveling my Draenei only to find out I'll have to do it again just to become a Dwarf. Maybe this is all a fake or misinformation and they'll keep it as it is... Ugly ugly male Draenei... :-(
Nope, Blizzard stated that the race you originally chose will be memorized, and that you will revert back to that race if you do two faction changes.
If we are to believe the leak then
, frankly, it doesn't make too much sense to have Worgen be shamans.
If we follow Blizzard's method of evening out the classes among the factions it would make more sense that Worgen will be druids, not shamans.
1. Both factions have two of the other factions specific classes (Draenei and Dwarf shamans, Tauren and Blood Elf paladins). Each side also has three of their own specific classes (Human, Dwarf and Draenei paladins, and Orc, Troll and Tauren shamans).
2. With Trolls being made into druids now (Horde having two total), chances are that Worgen will also be druids, due to faction balancing, yet again.
3. The only way to balance out the shamans and paladins among the factions while giving Worgen shamans is to give paladins to the Goblins.
And I frankly don't see that happening.

Why do you people treat these so called notes as true?
There's no proof, it's just some fool on MMO Champion who thinks his word is Gospel.

Huh interesting. The "lore" I was familiar with is from the Brady Games guide that I got bundled with my Burning Crusades purchase. In there, it states the Draenei learned shamanism from the orcs of Draenor's grasslands, until Kiljaeden came and corrupted the orcs.
And also interesting about worgen too. I didn't realize they were an alien race. I also read somewhere else that they were created by warlocks! I dunno. They seem very much like typical werewolves. My experience with them is mostly from Grizzly Hills in Northrend, where they talk about how the settlers in that one camp were bitten. Seems less like aliens from another dimensions and more like a good old werewolf in that setting.
Anyway, it seems like there are multiple sources of lore, so they could probably mangle lore for the ake of implementing something fun in game. The real concern then is this shaman/paladin Horde/Alliance race balance thing. If done for "fairness" and we are already getting dwarven shaman (ugh), then worgen probably will not be shaman.
